Terms of use

The agreement between you and this site. It is short, it is written in plain language, and it gives away more than most terms pages do, because the point of this site is to be used.

These terms govern your use of gritwright.com and the newsletter sent from it. By reading the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple and costs you nothing: stop reading.

We have kept this deliberately readable. A terms page written to be skipped protects nobody, and most of what follows is a grant of permission rather than a restriction, because the value of this site depends on the work being read, quoted and passed on.

Who these terms are with

Gritwright is an independent publication operated from Türkiye by its founding editor. Contact details are on the additional information page, and reaches a person rather than a ticketing system.

What this site is, and what it is not

Gritwright publishes information. It is not personal advice of any kind, and no relationship of professional advice is created by reading it.

  • Not medical advice. Guides on training, nutrition, sleep and recovery are written for a general adult readership and cannot account for your injuries, medications or conditions.
  • Not financial advice. Guides about money, work and investing are general information, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
  • Not a substitute for a professional. Where a decision carries real risk to your health or your money, speak to someone qualified who can see your actual situation.

The full disclaimers are set out on the additional information page and they form part of these terms.

What you may do

This is the part most terms pages make restrictive and we do not. You may:

  • Read everything, free, with no account. Nothing here is paywalled, metered or gated, and we do not intend to change that.
  • Quote us, in an article, a newsletter, a video, a forum post or an AI-generated answer, provided you name Gritwright and link to the guide you took it from.
  • Fetch the Markdown version of any guide by adding .md to its address, and use it for indexing, summarising or passing into a model.
  • Crawl the site. Our robots.txt allows every agent we know of, including AI crawlers, and the full grant is on the AI and content usage page.
  • Print, save or share a guide for your own use or to help somebody else.

What you may not do

The restrictions are few and each one exists to prevent a specific harm rather than to protect a business model.

  • Republish guides in full without permission. Quoting with attribution is welcome. Reproducing whole articles, or systematically reproducing many of them, is not.
  • Present our work as your own testing or reporting. If a guide says a claim rests on published research rather than first-hand use, that distinction has to survive the copy.
  • Strip a claim from its source or its caveat. A number without its citation, or a method without its stated limit, is a different claim from the one we published.
  • Impersonate Gritwright or imply that we endorse you, your product or your site when we do not.
  • Attack the site. No attempts to gain unauthorised access, disrupt service, or probe security without telling us first. Good-faith security reports are welcome at and we will not threaten anybody who sends one.
  • Use the site unlawfully, or in a way that infringes somebody else's rights.

Ownership of the content

Text, illustrations, photographs, page design and code on this site belong to Gritwright unless credited otherwise. Product names, logos and brands mentioned in guides belong to their respective owners, and mentioning a brand implies no relationship with it beyond what the guide discloses.

The permissions granted above are a licence to use the work, not a transfer of ownership, and they can be withdrawn from a specific party who breaks these terms.

Anything you send us

When you write to us, whether a correction, a question or a suggestion, you allow us to act on it: to fix the guide, to answer the question in a future article, or to quote your message without naming you unless you say otherwise.

You keep ownership of what you wrote. We will not publish your name, your email address or your message in identifiable form without your agreement. Please do not send us confidential material: an inbox is not a secure channel and we cannot treat unsolicited information as confidential.

The newsletter

Subscribing is voluntary and unsubscribing is one click, with no reason required and no attempt to talk you out of it. We send one guide a month, in full, together with the corrections we made to older guides in that period. We do not sell, rent or share the list, and no advertiser can email you through us. What we hold and for how long is set out in the privacy notice.

Links to other sites

Guides link out constantly, particularly to research databases, government health bodies and universities, because a claim you cannot check is not worth much. Once you follow a link you are on somebody else's site, under their terms and their privacy policy, and we have no control over what they publish or collect.

A link is not an endorsement of everything at the destination. Where we link to research, we are pointing at a specific finding, not adopting every view of its authors.

Availability and changes

We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption. It is a small publication, not a utility, and it may go down, move, or change without notice.

Guides are revised as evidence changes, and retired when they can no longer be made accurate. Every change is dated and described on the article itself, so a version you quoted remains traceable even after it has been superseded.

No warranty

The site and everything on it is provided as it is. We work hard on accuracy: guides are sourced, reviewed by qualified people where the subject warrants it, and corrected in public when they are wrong. But we cannot warrant that every guide is free of error, that it suits your circumstances, or that acting on it will produce a particular result.

Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Gritwright is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content, including loss of profit, loss of data, or indirect or consequential loss.

This is the ordinary position for a publisher of free information, and it is the reason the disclaimers above matter: the guides are a starting point for your own judgement, not a substitute for it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page is the day they were last reviewed, and material changes will be described rather than made silently, in keeping with how we handle every other revision on this site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts of Türkiye have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, nothing here removes the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country.

Questions

If something here is unclear, or you want permission for a use these terms do not cover, write to . In almost every case the answer is yes.
